Article 01

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information between pages or visits — for example, that you are logged in, or which language you have chosen. Alongside cookies, a website can also use your browser’s local storage, which works in a similar way but is never sent to the server.

This page explains which cookies www.taste-of-french.com (the « Site ») uses, what for, and how to manage them. For everything else about your personal data, see our Privacy Policy.

Article 02

The short version

The Site uses only functional cookies — the ones strictly necessary for it to work. We use no advertising cookies, no audience-measurement cookies, and no third-party trackers. Nothing on this Site follows you around the web.

Article 03

Cookies set by the Site

  • WordPress login cookies (wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*) — keep your session active once you sign in. Lifetime: the session, or up to 14 days if you tick « Remember me ».
  • WordPress settings cookies (wp-settings-*) — remember your interface preferences. Lifetime: up to 1 year.
  • WooCommerce shop cookies (woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart, wp_woocommerce_session_*) — keep track of your cart and your order while you check out. Lifetime: the session, up to about 2 days.
  • Language cookie (pll_language, set by Polylang) — remembers your chosen language (FR / EN / 日本語). Lifetime: 1 year.
  • Consent cookies (cmplz_*, set by Complianz) — remember your cookie preferences so the banner doesn’t reappear on every visit. Lifetime: about 1 year.
Article 04

Local storage

We use your browser’s local storage for one thing: remembering that our Premium offer popup has already been shown to you (key tfPremPopupSeen), so that it doesn’t reappear for 24 hours. This information never leaves your browser and is not transmitted to us.

Article 05

Third-party cookies (payment)

When you make a payment, our payment provider Stripe may set its own cookies on the checkout pages (such as __stripe_mid, lifetime about 1 year, and __stripe_sid, lifetime about 30 minutes). These cookies are used exclusively for fraud prevention and payment security, not for advertising. See Stripe’s cookie policy.

Article 06

Legal basis

All the cookies listed above are strictly necessary for the operation of the Site (login, cart, payment security, language, consent memory). Under French and EU rules (CNIL guidance on Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act), such cookies are exempt from prior consent. We do not set any cookie requiring consent.

Article 07

Managing cookies

You can manage your preferences at any time through the cookie banner on the Site, and delete or block cookies through your browser settings (usually under « Privacy » or « Cookies and site data »). Please note that blocking the functional cookies above will prevent core features from working: you will not be able to stay logged in, keep a cart, or complete a payment.
